Naveed Abbasi is director of the MS in Business Analytics & Technologies, MBA in Accounting and SAP programs and professor of Analytics, Information systems and Accounting. Naveed brings more than 20 years of valuable experience in financial reporting, data analysis, implementing ERP systems and accounting systems for multinational corporations and SMEs. Besides teaching SAP courses, he teaches data analytics, financial modeling, and corporate financial reporting.

Degree requirements

To graduate, students must complete 30 credits of study consisting of Business Analytics & Technologies courses, business elective courses, and the general requirements for a master’s degree.

The program can be completed in three semesters.

Data Visualization and Reporting

Explores techniques and best practices in visualizing data. From simple cross tabs to more complex multi-dimensional analysis using latest business tools e.g., SAP Business objects, PowerBI etc. This course gives students a thorough overview of the Analytics tools to view and create reports in financial areas. Students get experience with creating standard and customized reports from an actual database. Types of methods and tools include SAP Business objects, predictive analytics, query, and report designers. Successful decision-making requires both awareness of the external environment and deep insights into internal operations.

Business Intelligence and Data Mining

Organizations need to mine the data in real-time for new insights and initiatives for competitive advantage. Students develop skills in data-driven decision-making. This course covers the fundamental concepts, the business and technical knowledge, and the practical skills required of managing and mining data to support business decision-making and drive business value.

The class sessions are video-conferenced live via the Internet and are recorded for students whose time zone or work schedule does not permit synchronous participation.

Readings and homework account for another 7-10 hours of academic work per week.
